Abstract

Copolyamides containing from 0.5 to 7.5 percent by weight of phosphorus as an integral part of their polymer chain are provided such as copolyamides prepared from adipic acid, hexamethylene diamine, and bis(.beta.-carboxyethyl)alkylphosphine oxide. Fibers prepared from these copolymers have permanent antistatic, moisture transport, moisture regain, and flame-resistant properties and are particularly useful in textile fiber applications such as in apparel, carpets and upholstery.
