Abstract

The present invention relates to certain indane derivatives of general formula ##STR1## in which: X represents a hydrogen or halogen atom; R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, which may be identical or different, each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms or a cycloalkyl group containing 3 to 7 carbon atoms; R.sub.3 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms; and Y represents --CH.sub.2 OH or a group of formula --COOR.sub.4 in which R.sub.4 represents a hydrogen atom, 1/v(M) where M is a metal of valency v, or a group of formula
