Abstract
Hydrocarbon fraction containing diolefins and .alpha.-acetylenes are treated with base-modified catalyst to reduce the .alpha.-acetylene content. The base-modified catalyst comprises a support such as alumina containing an alkali metal hydroxide and related bases.
