Abstract
A compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein Y represents an arylene group optionally substituted by a halogen atom, an arylsulfonyl group or an acyl group, Z represents a 1,2-naphthylene, 2,3-naphthylene, 1,8-naphthylene or 2, 2'-biphenylene group optionally substituted by a halogen atom, and either one or both of the rings A and B optionally contain a substituent. This compound can be obtained by reacting a quinoline derivative with an aryldicarboxylic acid or its reactive derivative, and if desired, halogenating the resulting product. A yellow organic pigment comprising this compound as a coloring ingredient is useful for coloring polymeric materials.
