Abstract
An .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated aliphatic carboxylic acid can be prepared in a high yield by catalytic vapor phase oxidation of the corresponding .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated aldehyde in the presence of a catalyst represented by the following formula:
