Abstract
A process for the preparation of diaminomaleonitrile in high purity comprising polymerizing hydrogen cyanide in the presence of an alkyl aluminum compound having the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is alkyl containing 1 to 10 carbon atoms, and R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen, halogen having 17 to 53 of atomic number or alkyl containing 1 to 10 carbon atoms.
