Abstract

An improved method for the reaction of .beta.-naphthol with p-phenylenediamine to produce N,N'-di-2-naphthyl-p-phenylenediamine at lower temperatures and with decreased formation of undesirable by-products is accomplished by reacting with said materials in the presence of boric anhydride or boric acid.
