Abstract

An improvement in the production of .beta.-chloroethyltrichlorosilane by reacting hydrogen chloride with vinyl trichlorosilane in the presence of aluminum chloride at elevated pressure at temperatures between 0.degree. and 90.degree. C is disclosed, which comprises using the aluminium chloride which remains in the reaction vessel after separating off the .beta.-chloroethyltrichlorosilane, and which still contains .beta.-chloroethyltrichlorosilane, directly for the next reaction.
