Abstract
Process for the preparation of .alpha.-substituted cyclic ketones which comprises reacting a magnesium enolate with an aldehyde. The products obtained in accordance with the process of the invention are useful intermediates for the preparation of perfume and flavor ingredients, as well as for the synthesis of certain carotenoids.
