Abstract
A benzodiazepine derivative of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or a carboxyl group which may be esterified or amidated; R represents a hydrogen atom, an acyl group or a lower alkyl group, and each of the rings A and B is unsubstituted or substituted by halogen atom, nitro, lower alkyl, trifluoromethyl or lower alkoxy group, or its pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt is found to be useful as medicine in human and animal therapy, which acts on the central nervous system, e.g. muscle relaxants, anticonvulsants, sedatives, tranquilizers etc.
