Abstract
It is known to apply a sealant to the inner surface of opening portions of a can end so as to reinforce the opening portions and to prevent the leakage of the contents. Devices were invented previously in order to achieve this purpose, but the efficiency of production with these devices is extremely low. The number of cans processed by such conventional devices is limited to about 75 per minute at most, and it is extremely difficult to raise the productivity beyond the limit. Because the sealant used is of very high viscosity, it is not easy to take out a small portion of it and coat it on the inside surface of the can end, and the operation is also time-consuming. The present invention has succeeded in taking out a small predetermined amount of such a high viscosity sealant always onto a stamping die, and this markedly increases the efficiency of production. While the conventional production results in the processing of about 75 pieces per minute, the present invention can increase it to about 300 per minute.
