Abstract
Hydrocarbon gels formed from liquid hydrocarbons with pseudo double salts of alkyl acid orthophosphoric acids as gelling agents are made stable to the presence of excess caustic materials by the addition of an anhydride of a C.sub.2 - C.sub.10 carboxylic acid or dicarboxylic acid.
