Abstract
A novel group of amine formal polymers of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen, --CH.sub.2 R' or ##STR2## R' is hydrogen or --CH.sub.2 R' and R' is hydrogen, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl, n is 1 to 8, m is 0 to 8 and R, R', and R' may be the same or different. The polymers may be prepared by reacting bis(haloethyl)formals with ammonia or primary amines and/or monoalkanolamines in the presence of aqueous alkali. The products may be used as, e.g., rust inhibitors, acid scavengers, antioxidants and epoxide and urethane curing catalysts. Certain of the polymers are especially useful as epoxide curing agents.
