Abstract

1-ARYL-5-ALKYLIDENE-2,4-DIOXO-IMIDAZOLIDINE AND N-aryl-N'-(2,3-dihalogen alkanoyl)-ureas are disclosed. The latter compounds are reacted with an alkali metal alkoxide in a solvent at a temperature in the range of between 20.degree. C and the boiling temperature of the solvent to produce the dioxo-imidazolidenes, which may be used as herbicides, fungicides, bactericides, nematocides or as coccidiostatics.
