Abstract
Reversal color images are produced in silver halide photographic elements which employ a leuco dye comprising the reaction product of a color-forming coupler and an N,N-dialkyl-p-phenylenediamine stabilized against aerial oxidation by an electronegative group attached to the benzene ring. A method is disclosed which comprises developing a silver image in imagewise exposed areas of the silver halide element. The residual silver halide in unexposed areas is then fogged and developed while concurrently oxidizing the leuco dye in these unexposed areas to form a dye image which is a reversal of the imagewise exposure. Developed silver is then removed from the element to leave a dye image without oxidizing the leuco dye in the imagewise exposed areas of the element.
