Abstract

A target for an X-ray tube is coated outside of the area impinged on by electrons with a layer of thermally emissive material comprising 6-20% by weight TiO.sub.2 and 80-94% Al.sub.2 O.sub.3. The coating is applied for example by plasma flame spraying.
