Abstract
Anhydrous gold trichloride is prepared by stirring a suspension of finely divided tetrachloro-auric acid, having the thionyl chloride at a temperature in the range from 20.degree. to 65.degree. C in the absence of light, whereby said tetrachloro-auric acid and thionyl chloride react to form the desired end product.
