Abstract

Disclosed are 5,6,7 or 8-nuclear substituted benzamido-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinolines of the formula ##STR1## in which R is a phenyl containing one to three hydroxyl, nitro, halo, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy groups, and R.sub.1 is hydrogen or a lower alkyl. The compounds lower blood pressure in animals.
