Abstract

An apparatus for decontaminating exhaust gases having a rigid metallic housing, a catalyzer body of the monolithic type placed in the housing, the latter serving simultaneously as the outer wall of an exhaust gas conduit, a shell surrounding the catalyzer, a resilient compensating device supporting the catalyzer and the shell within the housing axially therein and with a gap with the housing. The resilient compensating device is formed by resilient tongues engaging the shell which surrounds the catalyzer body, and resilently supports and centers the shell in and spaced spart from the housing.
