Abstract

Compounds of the formula (I) ##STR1## are disclosed, wherein at least one of R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 is C.sub.1.sub.-6 alkyl and the others are hydrogen atoms; R.sup.4 is hydroxy or C.sub.1.sub.-6 alkoxy, or a salt of the compound wherein R.sup.4 is hydroxy with a pharmaceutically acceptable base. A typical compound is, for example, 2-carboxy-5-methylpyrazine 4-oxide.
