Abstract

A new class of compounds having rust inhibiting and/or corrosion protecting properties is disclosed and claimed. The compounds (or mixtures thereof) are especially useful as rust inhibitors and for corrosion protection in hydrocarbon fuel or oil compositions, such as in gasoline, diesel and home heating fuels, industrial oils and lubricating oils, and such fuel and oil compositions incorporating the novel compounds are also disclosed and claimed. In a preferred embodiment the compounds are alkyl ammonium carboxylate salt-ethoxylated alkyl phenol esters of a trimer of dimer acid (or mixture thereof).
