Abstract

Phosphorus-containing halogenated unsaturated polyester compositions are prepared by heat treating halogenated unsaturated polyesters derived from at least one epihalohydrin and maleic anhydride. The heat treatment is carried out in the presence of an organic phosphite at a temperature of between 50.degree. and 200.degree. C.
