Abstract

A catalytic liquid phase process for the production of olefin oxides comprising admixing an olefin and hydrogen peroxide in the presence of an arsenic catalyst which is provided to the reaction as either elemental arsenic, an arsenic compound or mixtures thereof, the arsenic content of said compound being present in catalytically active amounts, said compound being essentially free of tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium and chromium; and the temperature of the admixture is in the range of about 25.degree. to about 200.degree. C.
