Mono and dihydrazides of the cis-cis, cis-trans and trans-trans isomers of methylated muconic acids including .alpha.-methylmuconic acid, .beta.-methylmuconic acid, .alpha.,.alpha.'-dimethylmuconic acid, .alpha.,.beta.'-dimethylmuconic acid, .alpha.,.alpha.',.beta.-trimethylmuconic acid, .alpha.,.beta.,.beta.'-trimethylmuconic acid and .alpha.,.alpha.',.beta.,.beta.'-tetramethylmuconic acid. The compounds are suitable for use in rubber stabilization, rubber curing and plant growth regulation.
