Abstract
This invention relates to the polymerization and copolymerization of .alpha.-olefins and to catalysts and cocatalysts for that purpose wherein the polymerization is carried out in the presence of a catalyst composition comprising an organometallic compound and the cocatalyst reaction product of a halogenated transition metal compound and an organic compound of a divalent metal containing oxygen and nitrogen and being substantially free from hydroxyl groups attached to the divalent metal.
