Abstract
A process for providing an abrasion resistant coating on the surface of a glass container by treating the container with a solution containing 0.5 to 10% by weight of phosphoric acid and less than 5% by weight of metal phosphate in an aqueous diluent, the temperature of the surface of the container being at least 300.degree. C, and thereafter applying a lubricious organic cold-end coating to the surface of the container.
