Abstract

A coating composition useful in metal working processes comprises a major amount of a mineral oil having a viscosity of 100.degree.F of at least 100 SUS and (a) 1.0 to 20.0 parts by weight of a paraffin wax, (b) 0.1 to 10.0 parts by weight of a polymeric wax modifier and (c) 0.1 to 10.0 parts by weight of an extreme pressure agent. The compositions can also contain one or more rust inhibitors. Particularly preferred classes of extreme pressure agents for use in this comparison are sulfur containing agents and zinc salts of dialkyl dithiophosphates.
