Abstract
Ultra high molecular weight, linear .alpha.-olefin polymers are produced without reactor fouling by polymerizing an .alpha.-olefin in the presence of Ziegler catalyst dispersed in an inert diluent and an amount of an inert gas not in excess of that which will dissolve in the inert liquid diluent.
