Abstract

A method of inhibiting the activity of reverse transcriptase in Rous sarcoma viruses and other viruses containing reverse transcriptase. The method comprises subjecting the reverse transcriptase to an enzyme inhibiting effective dosage of a compound of the formula: ##SPC1## Wherein R' is hydrogen or hydroxyl and R is C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, cyclohexyl, phenyl, benzyl, and substituted benzyl.
