Disclosed is a tanning agent for leather comprising a chromium or zirconium salt, preferably the sulphate, and an aryl sulphone, the tanning of leather therewith and the use of the aryl sulphone per se in chrome, vegetable or synthetic tanning of leather and in fat liquoring processes for leather.
