Abstract
Antibiotic A-4696, produced by Actinoplanes sp., strain ATCC 23342, under submerged aerobic conditions in a liquid culture medium, isolated from the fermentation broth by adsorption on activated carbon, eluted therefom with a 1% sulfuric acid solution in acetone, and purified over sulfuric acid-washed alumina has antibacterial and growth promotant activity.
