Abstract

Substances of the structure ##EQU1## wherein Z is phosphorus, X.sup.-is Cl.sup.-, Br.sup.-, ClO.sub.2 .sup.- or BF.sub.4 .sup.-, and R.sub.1 - R.sub.4 are alkyl or aromatic groups are excellent inhibitors of fog formation when incorporated in photographic emulsions containing silver halides.
