Abstract

A composition and method for treating the hair and skin characterized by a greasy, unaesthetic appearance to reduce or essentially eliminate this greasy appearance which includes topically applying to a human having hair or skin so characterized a cosmetic composition containing as an active ingredient a cis or trans 3,4-thiolannediol, its cis or trans S-oxide derivatives or its cis or trans S-dioxide derivatives.
