Abstract

A surgical instrument for suturing organs and tissues with metal staples which includes a supporting body with a longitudinal slot and a flat frame. The frame has a supporting jaw provided with a flat face facing the slot. The flat face of the supporting jaw has a number of depressions for the staple legs to bend. The slot accommodates the staple body with the head into which the staple magazine is inserted, and a staple ejector. The slot in the supporting body opens in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the supporting body frame, whereby it becomes possible for the staple body with the staple ejector to be inserted into and extracted from the slot in said direction.
