Abstract

Polychlorcyclopentane and hexachlorcyclopentadiene are prepared by reacting liquid chlorinated cyclopentane with gaseous chlorine in the presence of an electromagnetic radiation and optionally by a subsequent reaction of these higher chlorinated cyclopentanes with chlorine at a temperature of more than 300.degree.C to yield hexachlorcyclopentadiene.
