Abstract
An airfoil comprising an elongated member terminating at a nose portion having a tapered circular cross section defining a plurality of flight control surfaces which function to stabilize the flight of the elongated member during launch and when the same exceeds a predetermined velocity. The airfoil further comprises a dual second control surface which functions to rotate or spin the elongated member about an axis that traverses the longitudinal axis of the member to provide a slow descent of the member after its velocity drops below a predetermined speed. The trailing edge of the elongated member is curved to provide additional stability by rotating the elongated member about its longitudinal axis throughout its entire flight. A launcher is disclosed for propelling the airfoil into flight with the launcher comprising an elongated member having a curved handle at one end. An apertured portion at the opposite end mounts a cable having means which engage the airfoil to permit the launching of the airfoil and which immediately disengage the airfoil upon said launch.
