Abstract

Preparation of a novel heterocyclic peri acid is initiated by reacting diaminodimethylbiphenyl with methyl vinyl ketone to produce tetramethyl biquinoline. The substituent methyl groups are oxidized subsequently to produce a tetraacid, or upon dehydration of the tetraacid, a dianhydride.
