Abstract

A process for the oxidation of a diethylbenzene feed which comprises passing a molecular oxygen containing gas into contact with said feed at a temperature between 100.degree. and 180.degree.C in the presence of a superbasic sulfonate of an alkaline-earth metal in an amount within the range of 0.01 to 5% by weight of the diethylbenzene feed.
