Covers substituted aryloxyacetamido nitrile derivatives having the following general formula: ##SPC1## Wherein X, Y and Z are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, loweralkyl and halo, R and R' are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and loweralkyl, R', R'' and R'' are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, loweralkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, substituted aryl, and benzyl and R'' and R'' when taken together are cycloalkane, which derivatives are useful in increasing carbohydrate deposition in plants such as sugar cane.
