Abstract
A method for controlling a marine vessel to reduce shift clunk. The method includes receiving from an input device a demand for propelling the marine vessel in water and operating a first marine drive to provide propulsion based on the demand from the input device. The method further includes determining whether a preset criteria has been satisfied, the preset criteria being satisfied based on a speed of the marine vessel and/or an elapsed time since the first marine drive started providing propulsion. The method further includes delaying operation of a second marine drive to provide propulsion based on the demand from the input device until the preset criteria has been satisfied to thereby reduce the shift clunk from starting operation of the second marine drive.
