Abstract
In a hair-cutting unit () for a rotary electric shaver, which is of the type comprising an external cutting member (), an internal cutting member and a supporting member (), an exposure distance (de) over which a skin-contacting surface () of a shaving track of the external cutting member () protrudes relative to an upper surface () of the supporting member () is adjustable. To this end, a conversion mechanism () having a first plurality of mutually spaced ramp elements () and a second plurality of mutually spaced flexible elements () for interaction with the ramp elements () is provided. Depending on the rotational direction of a relative rotation of the external cutting member () and the supporting member () about a central axis () of the hair-cutting unit (), the flexible elements () are made to flex either upwardly or downwardly in an axial direction (A).
