Abstract
A manipulator is described for lifting objects positioned within an upwards open container. The manipulator includes a first engaging device for a first object and a second engaging device for engaging a second object. A mechanism is provided to force the first and second objects, causing them to exert an internal force on the container. This internal force enables the container to be lifted by frictional engagement with the objects. A robot including the manipulator and a corresponding method for lifting the objects and container is also encompassed.
