Abstract
Dilators and introducers that include encapsulation features configured to couple to an access sheath are described herein. For example, a dilator can include an elongate shaft configured to be received within an access sheath. The elongate shaft can be tapered towards a distal end of the elongate shaft. The dilator can also include an encapsulation feature disposed on a distal portion of the elongate shaft. The encapsulation feature can include a plurality of tabs that extend longitudinally. The plurality of tabs can be configured to cover a distal end of the access sheath when the elongate shaft is disposed within the access sheath.
