Abstract

A trench closing assembly for a row unit of an agricultural planter includes a main frame connected rearwardly to the row unit frame by a connection bracket. An attachment bracket is connected to the connection bracket and a frame member is pivotally connected to the attachment bracket. The frame member includes first and second arms rotatably supporting first and second closing wheels. An actuator is supported between the attachment bracket and said frame member such that when actuated, said actuator causes the frame member to pivot downwardly relative to the attachment bracket thereby applying a down force to the first and second closing wheels. The trench closing assembly may include a press wheel disposed rearward of the closing wheels.
