Abstract
An online system may access data objects stored by one or more third party systems for a user, allowing the user to access data objects maintained by one or more third party systems via the online system. Different third party systems regulate a number of or a frequency of requests from data objects received during time intervals, and the online system accounts for such regulations by scheduling transmissions of requests to a third party system for future times rather than when a data object is determined to be obtained. Additionally, the online system exponentially increases a delay time interval to wait for retransmission of a request for the data object in response to receiving indications from the third party system that a request for a data object is inconsistent with a regulation.
