Abstract

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a transmitter of an orbital angular momentum (OAM) multiplexing based communication may determine an OAM azimuth mode assignment for open-loop transmission of a data stream using transmit diversity, wherein the OAM azimuth mode assignment comprises an assignment of two or more OAM azimuth modes to the data stream. The transmitter may transmit, to a receiver of the OAM multiplexing based communication, the data stream based at least in part on the OAM azimuth mode assignment. Numerous other aspects are described.
