Abstract
Systems and methods for performing an attribute transfer operation between an original version of three-dimensional visual volumetric content (e.g., an original mesh) and a second version of the three-dimensional visual volumetric content (e.g. a modified version of the original mesh) are disclosed. The original and modified versions of the three-dimensional visual volumetric content are sampled in 3D space to generate point clouds of samples for both the original and modified versions. Points with known attribute values included in the point cloud corresponding to the original version are associated with points in the second point cloud corresponding to the modified version. The attribute values of the points of the first point cloud and relative positions relative to the points of the second point cloud are used to calculate attribute values for an attribute map for the modified version of the three-dimensional visual volumetric content.
