Abstract

Efficient recompression is performed for compressed data. A compressed data object original compressed using intermediate representations is obtained. The data object is partially decompressed to generate the intermediate portions of the data object. Then, the intermediate representations are recompressed using a different compression technique in order to generate a recompressed version of the data object.
