Abstract
A device () for controlling a vehicle () that is capable of traveling in a parallel mode using engine drive torque provided by an engine () and motor assist torque provided by a motor (), the control device comprising a control unit that causes the vehicle to travel using the engine drive torque and the motor assist torque when a requested drive torque exceeds a first threshold value, and the first threshold value being a value at which the fuel consumption rate of output from the engine becomes worse than the fuel consumption rate of the output from the motor and being set lower than the maximum torque that can be outputted by the engine.
