Abstract
Method and apparatus for providing an equalizer that utilizes various weight interpolation schemes for equalization weight matrix generation. The equalizer receives a plurality of symbols of an uplink transmission in a wireless communication system having a plurality of subcarriers per a physical resource block (PRB) and performs an equalization operation on each of the plurality of received symbols of uplink transmission, wherein the equalization operation involves an equalization weight matrix. The equalizer calculates the equalization weight matrix for the equalization operation using a process for inversion of a first matrix, wherein the process includes a modified backward substitution step that calculates a second matrix during calculation of the inversion of the first matrix.
